Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy often comes with questions, and that's completely normal. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions. If you do not see your question here, please do not hesitate to reach out. I would be happy to help.
1. Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes! I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs, answer any questions, and determine whether we're a good fit to work together.
2. Who do you work with?
I provide therapy for individuals, couples, children, adolescents, adults, and families throughout Hawaiʻi. I support clients experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem, emotional regulation, grief, and family or parenting concerns.
3. Do you offer virtual or in-person therapy?
I primarily provide secure virtual therapy for clients throughout Hawaiʻi. Limited in-person sessions may be available by arrangement.
4. Do you accept insurance?
I am in-network with select insurance plans. If you're unsure whether your insurance is accepted, do not hesitate to get in touch with me, and I will be happy to help verify your benefits. Private-pay options are also available.
5. What can I expect during my first session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any questions you may have. There's no pressure to share everything at once. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Together, we will begin developing a personalized plan that supports your goals and overall well-being.
6. How long are therapy sessions?
Most therapy sessions last approximately 50–60 minutes.
7. How often will we meet?
The frequency of therapy depends on your goals and needs. Many clients begin with weekly sessions and adjust over time as progress is made.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 48 hours notice. Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours notice, as well as missed appointments, may be subject to a cancellation fee. This policy helps ensure appointment times remain available for other clients in need of care.
8. Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is important. Therapy is confidential except in certain situations required by law or when there is a safety concern. Before beginning therapy, I will review confidentiality and its legal and ethical limits with you so you understand your rights and what to expect.
